Do You Export Seafood To The US?

Seafood and Traceability

Do you export or import in the US? Are you a Canadian seafood producer?

This is for you.

Seafood traceability is becoming a more important each day within the commercial fishing sector and seafood supply chains. With heightened attention on illegal fishing and mislabelling of seafood it is becoming more apparent that traceability is the only means of protecting our sustainability of our supply chains and resources.

Major changes are coming to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency requirements on January 15, 2019. The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations will be in force, requiring detailed traceability on the Chain of Custody of your products. As a seafood producer, you will be required to use a one back one forward traceability metric. More information can be found on the link below.

In April of 2018, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration implemented stringent traceability surrounding the importation of seafood into the United States. Please see the link below on the SIMP program and the requirements associated.

If you need assistance with either regulation, Sedna Technologies is here to help. Please contact us today!
